I believe that each of us should treat the ability to dream dreams as a special spiritual ability. God created everyone with the ability to see dreams, but unfortunately, not everyone retains this ability while growing up.
All newborns can actually see dreams by default, but while growing up, some tend to lose this ability due to exposure to sin and worldliness.
The ability to see dreams can be reactivated or revived at any time and fine-tuned by getting saved, getting baptised in the Holy Spirit and growing spiritually.
One interesting aspect of dreaming is that, we don't only dream about ourselves. We have the ability to also dream about others. God also makes use of this ability to communicate important messages to us about other people.

When you dream about someone, that dream can be triggered by your thoughts you've been having about that person while awake. A dream about someone can also come as a prophetic dream and direct revelation from God.
I know that most of us would love to always have God reveal things to us through dreams about other people. But this just doesn’t come randomly. We can do something to make this happen easily.
If we desire to see dreams from God concerning other people, then we have to align ourselves to receive these dreams by getting saved, staying filled with the Holy Spirit and staying consecrated at all times.
Why You Dream About Someone
For those of you who often dream about someone, it is generally due to the following reasons:
1. You're Connected With Them In One Way Or Another
We see dreams about people we like or people we are connected to in waking life.
When we dream about someone, that often happens because we are somewhat bonded with them. This could be an emotional connection (as in spousal), friendship, family or even a form of spiritual connection.
It is very normal to see dreams about our friends, coworkers, colleagues and relatives. It is even rare for people to see dreams about completely strange people they have never met before or have nothing to do with.
Because someone has become a part of your life, there is that likelyhood that you will someday or sometimes dream about them.
2. God Wants You To Pray For Someone
Oftentimes, we might happen to see dreams about people we know because they are in danger, or some sort of mishap is about to befall them. So God reveals these things to us just in time before they happen, because He knows we care about them, and He trusts us to pray for them.
Galatians 6:2 says, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
When you see dreams about your loved ones being in danger, do the right thing and intercede on their behalf.
Through our prayers, such danger as seen in our dreams can be averted and the people saved.
3. God Is Sharing With You Secrets About Them
If you are seeing secret information about people that they normally wouldn't share with you, then God finds eligible to have knowledge of such secrets.
God reveals secret about other people through dreams to those He trusts, so don't abuse that privilege by using such an information against the individual.
Final Thoughts On Dreaming About Someone
When you dream about someone, it could come as a result of you thinking about them. If it's been long you saw a particular person, the moment you start thinking about them, you might also start seeing dreams about them.
Sometimes, God shows us dreams about someone else because that person is in danger and needs our prayers.
Dreams about someone can also come as a result of them thinking about us or planning someone for or against us. That makes dreams about someone sometimes positive and other times negative.
There are dreams about someone that requires we take actions like praying for them or talking to them on waking up. There are also such dreams that require we do nothing.
